The only shark species that regularly enters freshwater. Found in Florida's rivers, canals, and coastal waters. Stocky build, blunt snout, and aggressive feeding behavior make them one of the most formidable predators in Florida waters.
Behavior
Highly territorial. Swims far upstream in rivers โ found in the St. Johns River, Caloosahatchee, and even Lake Okeechobee. Most active at dawn and dusk.

Maintain safe distance. Avoid swimming at dawn/dusk near river mouths or murky inshore areas. Never approach or feed sharks.
