Gulf Flounder

A master of camouflage that lies flat on the bottom waiting to ambush prey. Gulf flounder are highly sought as table fare, with delicate white fillets prized by Florida seafood lovers. Found in bays, passes, and nearshore waters throughout the state.
Behavior
Ambush predator that lies motionless on the bottom, nearly invisible thanks to color-changing camouflage. Both eyes are on the left side of the body. Migrates to deeper offshore waters in fall to spawn.

Sharp teeth can cut fingers โ use a lip gripper. Careful when gigging at night โ watch for stingrays on the same flats.
