Least Concern
One of Florida's most common and delicious inshore snapper species. Also called gray snapper, they lurk under docks, around mangrove roots, and near any structure in coastal waters. Wary biters that challenge even experienced anglers.
Behavior
Structure-oriented. Schools near docks, mangrove roots, bridges, and jetties during the day. Moves to open flats and channels to feed at night. Extremely cautious โ requires light tackle and stealthy presentations.

Careful of sharp gill plates when handling. Use a dehooking tool for deeply hooked fish.
