The supreme live bait of Florida's inshore waters. Pilchards (scaled sardines) are small, fragile schooling fish that every serious Florida angler needs to know how to catch and keep alive. A well-presented pilchard will outfish any artificial lure for snook, redfish, and tarpon.
Behavior
Forms enormous schools in Florida's bays and nearshore waters. Caught with cast nets on grass flats during the warmer months. Extremely fragile โ requires a quality live well with recirculating water and proper bait management to keep alive.
