Among the most prized surf fishing targets in Florida. Pompano are fast, beautiful fish with some of the finest-tasting flesh of any species. Their seasonal migrations along Florida's beaches create legendary fishing runs in fall and spring.
Behavior
Travels in schools along the surf zone, following sand flea and coquina migrations. Feeds in the wash zone during incoming tides. Peak runs occur October–December and March–May along both coasts.
