A powerful deep-water pelagic prized for both its fighting ability and world-class sashimi-grade flesh. Yellowfin tuna are found in the Gulf Stream off Florida's east coast and in deep Gulf waters. Their long yellow fins and golden stripe make them one of the most beautiful offshore game fish.
Behavior
Schooling pelagic that travels in groups, often mixed with skipjack and blackfin tuna. Associates with floating objects and temperature breaks in the Gulf Stream. Capable of incredibly long, deep runs when hooked. Requires heavy tackle (50โ80 lb class).

Incredibly powerful โ use a fighting chair or stand-up harness for big fish. Tuna can pull anglers overboard. Bleed and ice immediately after catch for food safety.
