What Is SwampSkimmer?

SwampSkimmer is a free, independent Florida outdoor guide built for everyone who loves the water — from beginners catching their first bluegill to experienced anglers chasing tarpon on the flats.

Florida has more navigable waterways, spring systems, coastal ecosystems, and wildlife diversity than almost anywhere in the continental United States. SwampSkimmer exists to document all of it — and make it accessible, searchable, and useful.

Everything here is free. No subscriptions. No paywalls. Some product links on gear pages are Amazon affiliate links that help keep the site running — always labeled and always at no extra cost to you.

About the Content

🔬 Species Data

Conservation status classifications follow the IUCN Red List categories. Florida-specific status (Threatened, etc.) follows Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) classifications. Invasive species designations are from FWC and the Florida Exotic Pest Plant Council (FLEPPC).
